Wine Countries
Wine grapes are planted all over the world. There are so many more wines, in greater variety, today than every before. Worldwide, this Golden Age of Wine, as it has been described, presents us with an array of wines that is hard to get your arms around, let alone enjoy. Wine has become a vital part of global commerce.
All over Europe, the average citizen drinks wine with every dinner, regardless of his or her economic situation…and wine at lunch is very common. They don't drink to get silly. They instinctively consume wine for its ability to enhance the enjoyment of food. Wine appreciation/education classes aren't necessary in a region that consumes over four times as much wine per capita as Americans.
We will not try to explore every wine region. It would be too daunting a task. But instead we will summarize some of the top wine producing countries .
